Saral is a satellite with ARGOS and ALTIKA which is a cooperative altimetry technology mission of ISRO and CNES. Saral is designed to perform several tasks like ocean circulation and surface elevation. The payloads of Saral are built by ISRO with their payload modules like ALTIKA (altimeter), DORIS, Laser Retro-reflector Array (LRA) and ARGOS-3. Saral was successfully launched on 25th February,2013.
ALTIKA altimeter was the first spaceborne altimeter to operate a Ka-band. ALTIKA the prime payload of Saral has a slightly different methodology of working with respect to other altimeters. It does not carry any instruments in order to correct atmospheric effects as it is operated at Ka-band.
We know that beside every advantage there is a disadvantage. So, the disadvantage of Saral is that high frequency waves (like Ka-band) are extremely sensitive to rain, even drizzle. Minimum 10% of the data gets lost.

This picture will give all our readers a detailed knowledge on the parts of Saral...
We all generally tend to look after the outer designs of satellites or rather everything, but we don't think for a single time that what amount of effort has been devoted behind this thing to make it remarkable for the glory of India...
And when we think this, the only sentence which comes to our mind is - That's the power of Indian scientists and that's the power of ISRO...
ISRO has never been Indian Space Research Organization but it has always been Impossible Space Research Organization.
