GSAT-18

GSAT-18 is a communication satellite of India built and developed by ISRO and operated by INSAT. It is a high power satellite being inducted into INSAT/GSAT system.

 LAUNCH:

India’s latest communication satellite GSAT-18 was launched on 6th October 2016 from Kourou, French Guiana by Ariane-5 VA-231 into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). It is the 20th ISRO the satellite launched by Arianespace.

 CONFIGURATION:

o   With a lift-off mass of 3404 kg, GSAT-18 carries 48 communication transponders to provide services in normal C-band, Upper Extended C-band and Ku-bands of the frequency spectrum.

o   It is designed to provide continuity of services on operational satellites in C-band, Extended C-band Ku-bands.

o   GSAT-18 positioned at 74° East longitude and co-located with other operational satellites. The designed in-orbit operational life of GSAT-18 is about 15 years.
