GSAT-14 is a communication satellite with some advance technology of India built and developed by ISRO which replaced the previously launched GSAT-3 satellite on 2004.
LAUNCH:
GSAT-14
was successfully launched on 5th January 2014 by a Geosynchronous
Satellite Launch Vehicle, GSLV Mk II D-5 which incorporated an Indian-built cryogenic the engine on the third stage. With lift-off mass 1982 kg and I-2K satellite bus, this the satellite was launched from the second launched pad of Satish Dhawan ResearchCentre (SDSC).

GOAL AND OBJECTIVES:
The
main focus of GSAT-14 missions are:-
o To augment
the In-orbit capacity of Extended C and Ku-band transponders.
o To provide
a platform for new experiments.
PAYLOADS:
o 6 extended
C-band transponders for Indian mainland and island coverage with 36 dBW Edge of
Coverage-Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EOC-EIRP)
o 6 Ku-band
transponders covering mainland India with 51.5 dBW EOC-EIRP.
o 2 Ka-band
Beacons operating at 20.2 GHz and 30.5 GHz to carry out attenuation studies.
GSAT-14 is the latest advance satellite
in which some new technologies are being tested, which are:

Fibre Optic
Gyro
o
Active
Pixel Sun Sensor
o
Ka-band
beacon propagation studies
o Thermal control coating experiments this satellite is powered by two solar arrays, generating 2600 Watts of power. The spacecraft has a design life of 12 years.
The satellite carries 6 Ku-bands and 6
Extended C-band transponders to provide coverage of the whole India.
This provides enhanced broadcasting services. It also carries two Ka-band beacons which will be used to conduct research into how weather affects Ka-band satellite communications.
